Dear McMurry Family,
As I approach the close of my first year as president of McMurry University, I find myself reflecting with deep gratitude on the many ways this community has welcomed, supported, and inspired me. Inauguration week was a deeply meaningful milestone that allowed me to pause and honor the history, mission, and spirit that define McMurry University. Standing with our students, faculty, staff, trustees, alumni, and friends during that week of celebration reminded me how strong and vibrant this community truly is. The support I felt throughout that week continues to inspire and guide me each day.
That same sense of connection has carried into our Rising With Purpose regional events. I have now attended four gatherings across the state, and each has offered a special opportunity to meet members of our extended McMurry family. I have been genuinely moved by the stories you share, from the professors who encouraged and challenged you to the friendships that have endured across the decades and the experiences on this campus that helped shape who you are today. These stories echo what I hear from our current students, affirming that the McMurry Experience remains as transformative and meaningful as ever.
In the months ahead, I look forward to continuing to visit with alumni, influential Abilene community members, faculty, staff, and students to deepen my understanding of the lasting impact McMurry has had on generations of students. They also strengthen my commitment to ensuring that the next generation experiences that same sense of belonging, purpose, and possibility.
Thank you for your gracious welcome and for the countless ways you continue to support our beloved university. I look forward to the year ahead and to the continued progress, meaningful partnerships, and shared opportunities that will allow us to rise with purpose together.
